With her common-sense perspective, sharp political analysis, and willingness to call it like she sees it, Tara Setmayer has become one of television’s most recognizable and outspoken political commentators.
Tara appears regularly on MSNOW and CNN, providing analysis on American politics, elections, democracy, and the rapidly changing political landscape. Known for bringing both political experience and an independent point of view to the conversation, she offers audiences an unvarnished look at what’s happening in Washington—and why it matters.
Tara is also the host of The Stakes, The Seneca Project’s weekly streaming show featuring candid conversations with newsmakers, political leaders, activists, and other voices shaping the fight for American democracy. She is also the writer and voice behind Uncompromised, her live Substack community, where she takes on the political and cultural issues of the moment with the candor, context, and perspective her audience has come to expect.
A veteran of political television, Tara previously served as a CNN political commentator and ABC News contributor and has guest hosted The View. Her television appearances have included Good Morning America, Nightline, Real Time with Bill Maher, and PBS’s long-running women’s public affairs program To the Contrary, where she was a regular panelist for a decade. She has also guest hosted The Michael Smerconish Program on SiriusXM’s POTUS channel.
Her work has earned recognition throughout her media career, including being named by Vulture as one of television’s “Top 20 Election Coverage Stars” during the 2016 presidential election.
